The Batman arrived on HBO Max on April 18th and it was a big reason for some people in the emerging markets, where HBO Max is still new and fresh, to finally drop some coin for WarnerMedia. It is the first major title that respects shortened theater window as opposed to last year’s practice of same-day release. The Batman made a rather respectable sum in theatres, but it is quite possible that some fans just waited for the VOD release. Frontloaded or not, the movie went up the charts faster than lightning and it is now ahead of everything else on HBO by quite some margin. It even brought KIMI up (starring The Batman’s Catwoman Zoe Kravitz) considerably and if you look down the top ten, you will find Halle Berry’s Catwoman. Out of 46 available countries, The Batman is number one in 42 (except for Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapur, and Thailand – those are high on Fantastic Beasts).
The Batman is number one on HULU as well and it’s starting to push Peter Parker out of the TVOD throne too. It is only a matter of time. The Batman is already number one on Amazon, number two on iTunes, and number three on Google Movies. iTunes and Google Movies are still Spidey’s to rule, but Bruce Wayne is gaining quickly. The Batman is also number one on Chili and number three on Vudu.
