Remember 365 Days? Polish 50 Shades of Grey was one of the most talked-about international movies of 2020. It spent many weeks in Netflix Top Ten and no amount of horrible reviews could stop it. Two years later, delayed but not canceled by Covid, here we go again with the first (yes, there is more to come) sequel called This Day. It does have a story, not that it would matter: Laura and Massimo are back and hotter than ever. But the reunited couple's new beginning is complicated by Massimo’s family ties and a mysterious man who enters Laura’s life to win her heart and trust, at any cost.
365 Days: This Day is currently ranking at 0 % on Rotten Tomatoes. But none of it matters because it is already a huge success, catapulting the original from 2020 into the number 4 spot instantaneously. Netflix has a movie franchise in its hands. You don’t have to like it but you have to acknowledge it. Only time will tell if the sequel has any legs. The element of surprise is gone, everyone knows what they are in for. The sequel was heavily frontloaded, so it can leave the top ten much sooner than its predecessor. Or maybe it is just wishful thinking of those who would like some quality content instead of a trashy movie for the masses.
