If you have kids or if you ever have been in a bookstore, you definitely know Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Media franchise spanning more than 20 books, four movies, and now even CGI-animated adaptation of the very first book that made Jeff Kinney a millionaire. He wrote the first Diary in 2007 and he never stopped. Now there are fifteen sequels, three spinoffs, two self-help books, and even an activity game in 56 languages throughout the world. No wonder that anticipated Disney+ adaptation went straight to number one, beating Shang-Chi and Jungle Cruise.
Jeff Kinney, the author of the book, announced that a sequel based on the second book (Rodrick Rules) is already in the works and that he plans to adapt all of his books on the Disney+ platform. Diary of Wimpy Kid wasn’t the only kid-friendly movie in the top ten with Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Home Sweet Home Alone being 4th, 7th, and 8th respectively. Classic Kevin beating the new version fair and square? Sounds like a regular Christmas to us.
