Based on the popular novel by Jin Yong Kam Yung. He also wrote Legend of the Condor Heroes and Return of the Condor Heroes. The Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre takes place during 14th Century China during the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty, roughly 100 years after the events of Return of the Condor Heroes. After decades of struggles, famine, and bitterness which the Chinese citizens blamed on the Yuan Dynasty's misgovernment, the Martial Arts sects have begun to rebel. Prince Ruyong asks Cheng Kun, a Shaolin monk with an ulterior motive, for a plan on how to deal with the rebels. The wielder of Heavenly Sword and/or Dragon Sabre rules the world. This well known legend in the Martial Arts community is the impetus for the tale of Zhang Wuji. The story begins with how his parents met (episodes 1-3), then tells his trials as an adolescent (episodes 4-8), proceeds to relate his rise to prominence (episodes 9-23) and reveals the secret behind Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre (episode 23), and ends with the confluence of Wuji's love life, the Martial Arts sects' long standing grudges, and cruel fate.

Episode seven was broadcast on 17 July 2005, it achieved an average rating of 7.05 and peaked at 8.05, which broke the previous average record of 6.43 held by Meteor Garden and was the highest peak for a single episode for a Taiwanese drama until it was broken by episode 13 of Fated To Love You which peaked at 8.13 in 2008.

KO One is a 2005 Taiwanese drama starring Jiro Wang, Calvin Chen, Aaron Yan and Danson Tang. It was produced by Comic International Productions and was first broadcast in Taiwan on cable TV Gala Television Variety Show/CH 28 on 26 November 2005 to 27 May 2006. Before this drama was aired there was not much interests in it, due to the storyline and unfamiliar cast. Despite the new encounters, the ratings of KO One exceeded expectations. Although the ratings were not high, it brought fame to three of the four leads, who are part of the then newly formed Taiwanese boy band called Fahrenheit. This drama also brought fame to the Taiwanese artist, Tank who wrote and sang the opening and ending theme songs. The KO One original soundtrack was the best selling soundtrack of 2006, selling more than 60,000 copies in Taiwan within the first month of release. The sequel The X-Family was broadcast from 8 August 2007 to 23 October 2007 and threequel, K.O.3an Guo was broadcast from 28 February 2009 to 27 February 2010, on cable TV Gala Television Variety Show/CH 28.
