It’s not really a shame though. All of them had formidable opponents. Halle Berry in her directorial debut on Netflix had to face Red Notice and even when Bruised scored more number one spots (22 vs. 20), it was in smaller markets and star-studded blockbuster with Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gal Gadot secured the top spot. Netflix’s top ten is slowly filling up with Christmas movies. It’s that time of the year – animated Grinch is already on top of the Amazon Video chart and nostalgia-filled 8-Bit Christmas reached number 3 on HBO.
New drama True Story with Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes ultimately had to bow in front of Korean Hellbound, another tough second place for the anticipated project. True Story was followed by animated hit Arcane and by another newcomer, fresh season of Selling Sunset, a real estate reality show that is full of turns and twists (it is what you call unstructured reality show). Netflix has already shot a spinoff called Selling Tampa and there is more to come. HBO is ruled by Sex Lives of College Girls, another hit from Mindy Kaling (see more here), and on Disney+ we had Beatles beaten by Hawkeye. It is not such a big surprise that Peter Jackson’s documentary had to make a way for another MCU show. John, Paul, George and Ringo at least got in front of The Simpsons. That itself is quite an achievement.
